Lakefront Facts and Resources – MOST LAKE GREENWOOD BUYERS ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE LAKE AND ASK MANY QUESTIONS. SOME OF THE MOST POPULAR ARE REGARDING WATER LEVELS, OWNERSHIP OF THE LAKE, RESTRICTIONS OF THE DIFFERENT AREAS AND COMMUNITIES, FISHING, TAXES, RULES FOR BUILDING DOCKS AND WHO OWNS THE DOCK, FLOODING, WATERFRONT SETBACKS, AND MUCH MORE.Lake Greenwood was created between 1935 and 1940 by the construction of the Buzzard’s Roost Dam near Chappels, SC, a hydroelectric dam across the Saluda River.Lake Greenwood offers 212 miles of shoreline and 11,400 acres.

The lake spans about The Reedy River and joins the Saluda River at Lake Greenwood.

Lake Greenwood is governed by Greenwood County and is not an Army Corp Of Engineer Lake.

You own your property up to the lake bed (or the 440 line), not lease it.

Private docks and seawalls are allowed (with a permit) on most property except for those few in Habitat Restricted areas.

Lake Greenwood is great for freshwater fish including Largemouth Bass, Blue Gill, Crappie, Pearch, Stripers, Channel Cats, Blue Cats, and Mud Cats. Click here to be redirected to SC Fishing Reports.

Boating, water sports, jet ski’s, sail boats, and all other watercraft is permitted on Lake Greenwood as of January 2009.

Camping sites are available in all 3 counties bordering Lake Greenwood.

There are gas stations, food establishments, and bars available to boaters on the lake.

There are Free public lake access locations and several paid ones available.

The Greenwood State Park is open to the public. Situated on the western shore of Lake Greenwood. It’s a 915 acre State Park with family and primitive campsites, a trading post and tackle shop, nature trails, playground areas, a recreation building, three public boat ramps, and picnic areas.

SC DNR does patrol the lake, so make sure to abide by the laws- wear your life jackets when applicable, check your lights if you will be out past dark, have your floatation device on board, keep your boat stocked with safety supplies and a whistle, make sure your horn works, NO GLASS BOTTLES allowed, DO NOT LITTER, slow down in No Wake Zones, and make sure all your stickers are up to date.

Greenwood County will adjust water levels if necessary.

Break On The Lake

A brand New Restaurant, called Break On The Lake, is Coming to Greenwood in the Spring of 2018.
Great location, boat slips, and outside bar with awesome views.

Lee’s Barbecue  

Lee’s Barbecue is a legend in the area! Located just up from the Subway and Dock Bar and Grill. You can dine-in at their buffet style restaurant or you can call ahead and order up a little slice of heaven to take home. Ask them about their catering services for your wedding, party, or tailgating needs!

Harris Landing Restaurant and Tiki Bar-

Located on the Greenwood County side of the lake at the bridge on the North end of the lake. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Specials daily. You can get here by car or boat. Boat slips available while dining. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Get a cool beverage here too with the indoor bar or lakeside Tiki Hut bar.

Seasons By The Lake

Located on the Greenwood County side of the lake on Hwy 34 near the Dam. You can not get here by boat, but you can by car! This is dining at its best! The chefs have developedhis own style of cooking which merges and infuses all of his different travels into a unique, eclectic cuisine accented by an extensive wine list.

Subways, DBA ”Subway of Lake Greenwood’’

JUST LOOK for our billboard to find this one! Located on the Laurens County side of the lake at the main bridge. Subway on Lake Greenwood probably has the BEST view of any other Subway! The views from here are spectacular.  It’s inside of the gas station. Come by for some delicious Subway sandwiches and enjoy your lunch overlooking the beautiful Lake Greenwood.

The Dock Bar and Grill 
JUST LOOK for our billboard to find this one! Located on the Laurens County side of the lake, beside the Subway at the main bridge. Come dance, listen to a band & enjoy a laid back casual Lake atmosphere while enjoying your favorite beverage . Limited food menu and GREAT pizza. If you bring children, you only want to bring them during the day.  You can get here by car or boat.

Lake Greenwood Ice Cream BOAT

That’s right! No need to drive to this one, as this one is mobile!  You can get sweet treats and pizza while out on your boat and even on your Dock!  You can see where they are during the summer by following them below.

The Lighthouse RV Park & Marina

Located on the Laurens County side of Lake Greenwood. of the boat.  Lighthouse is past Moons Landing, across from Grand Harbor and State Park on Laurens ( left) side of lake. This one has about everything else you need- snack bar- pizza, drinks, beer, ice, bait, etc.

Skippers Landing

Skippers offers food, drink, gas, ramp, camping & a marina. Located about 1/2 mile on left side of lake past Goat Island and across from Grand Harbor and State Park going toward Dam.  Good food.  Breakfast, lunch, and supper.  Sunday – meat and 3 buffet.

Moon Landing RV Park and Marina

Family owned and operated RV Park and Marina located on beautiful Lake Greenwood in Cross Hill (Laurens County). They have a camp store for picnic supplies, bait and tackle, hunting/fishing licenses, gas dock, and LP Gas refills. Check out their website for more details!
